SUMMARY:Introduction to Data Curation
DESCRIPTION:Data curation plays an important role in enhancing data quality
\, leading to better\, more valuable data. By ensuring proper appraisal\,
documentation\, metadata and formatting\, it contributes to making data fi
ndable\, accessible\, interoperable and reusable. While data curation task
s should be carried out throughout the whole research data lifecycle\, the
y certainly get into focus\, when data are prepared to be published in a r
 epository.\\r\\nIn a hands-on session\, guest lecturer Dr. Julian Dederke
will teach you best practices for data curation and guide through a sample
data curation process in small working groups. In a concluding discussion
\, we will explore how insights gained in the workshop can be applied to y
our field or the whole university and used to support researchers.\\r\\nTh
e workshop serves as an introduction to central aspects and challenges in
data curation. It provides an opportunity to engage in exchange and learn
from each other.\\r\\nLecturer\\r\\nDr. Julian Dederke (Research Data Mana
 gement\, ETH Library\, ETH Zurich)\\r\\nCourse Language: English\\r\\nData
stewards and other members of the university's RDM Network will be invite
d to this course by email. Other people who are interested in attending th
e course are asked to contact the coordinators of the Data Stewardship Pro
 gram (researchdata@unibas.ch [mailto:researchdata@unibas.ch]).
